Iran Armed Forces to take out US troops, equipment in case of war: senior general
TEHRAN - A senior Iranian military commander has warned that should the U.S. wage a war against the Islamic Republic, U.S. troops and equipment will be annihilated.
“In the event of any conflict, American forces and their equipment will be destroyed, and all of the United States’ resources and interests in the region will be within the firing range of Iranian troops,” said Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, a senior spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces.
The remarks by General Shekarchi came in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats against Iran in his State of the Union speech at the Congress on Tuesday.
“Donald Trump’s repeated threats and remarks are nothing but saber-rattling and pipe dreams,” said the top commander.
General Shekarchi underlined that Iran, with reliance on its defense and offensive power and the backing of its brave, united and resistant people, is closely monitoring all the movements of the U.S. and Israeli regime with full preparedness.
The commander noted the presence of the U.S. military in the region is in line with “psychological warfare, blackmail, and bullying.”
“If Washington officials are prudent and wise enough and if they get to know the Iranian Armed Forces’ real power, they will never speak of war,” he explained.
“Any provocative move by the U.S. military or its affiliated terrorist groups will be met with a decisive response and crushing strikes by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the general said.
He added Iran has proved that it is not seeking a war, but is not scared of war either and will safeguard the country and interests of its people with full force.
“Any unwise move would spark a raging fire in the region, and you will receive a response that you have never experienced in your history,” the military official warned.
Recently, the U.S. president said he prefers reaching a deal, but warned that if no agreement is achieved, “that day will be a very bad day for that country and, unfortunately, for its people.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump also described as “fake news” multiple reports that Gen. Daniel Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff—sometimes referred to as “Razin”—opposes going to war with Iran. Trump claimed the reports cite no sources and are “100 percent false.”
Trump further claimed that Iran’s nuclear program had been eliminated by B-2 bombers last June.
The U.S. president also wrote that “Razin Caine is a great fighter” and represents “the most powerful military in the world.” He added that Caine has never spoken about refraining from action against Iran and has not commented on what Trump described as “fabricated limited strikes” that he said he had read about. “He only knows one thing: how to win, and if he is ordered, he will be on the front lines leading the operation,” Trump wrote.
Trump claimed that everything written about a potential war with Iran is false and deliberately misleading. “It is I who decide,” he said. “I prefer that a deal be reached, but if no agreement is made, that day will be a very bad day for that country and, unfortunately, for its people — who are great and amazing people — because such a thing should never have had to happen to them.”
In recent days, several media outlets, including Axios, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, have published reports about the possibility of confrontation between Iran and the United States. Trump’s message appears to be a response to these media speculations.
